Eco-friendly fashion made by Girls for Girls

Last year my friend Andrea, an amazing Spanish teacher at a local school in Astoria NY, had the brilliant idea, along with her students,  to create an Eco-friendly fashion show. The girls were given the tasks to design a piece of clothing completely out of recyclable material, and  model it on the catwalk.  I remember talking about it with Andrea, seeing the passion for her students and the project. The motivation, dedication and work were clearly reflected in the success of the event.
Humans have an innate desire to create and learn, and it is important to find ways to stimulate these interesting skills. Moreover than going to school, these girls were put in a situation that would trigger their imagination in a different direction. I love the idea of doing something outside the box, the more challenging the more I know the learning experience is worthwhile and everlasting.  Innovation is vital for our continuous journey and it is beautiful that it came from a group of girls that represent the future of women in the US.  My friend Andrea has invited me to the upcoming fashion show 2011 and I can't wait to be there and experience the devotion, commitment and enthusiasm that Andrea and her students give to this beautiful show.  I will keep you posted on dates and location of this event and  I hope to see you there, dear blogger, supporting and empowering these girls because they deserve it.
